Loosing your balls!!!

I can't imagine loosing one of my balls much less both of them. This guy just doesn't have any luck. I'm just wondering how he lost the first testicle at age 19.
This article is from the Fairfield Daily Republic.

Ex-inmate loses testicle, gains settlement with county
By Jess Sullivan

Lowell Crowder, 47, lost one of his testicles at the age of 19. After he lost his other testicle while he was locked up at the Solano County jail he sued the jail.
Crowder settled his lawsuit against the county earlier this month after agreeing to a $200,000 payment and an agreement by the county to pay for more than $40,000 in medical bills.
Crowder was arrested in Vallejo in May 2003 for driving under the influence and for possessing marijuana for sale. His arrest came 10 days after he had gone to a local emergency room because his testicle had suddenly swollen up to the size of a baseball. Doctors gave Crowder a regimen of antibiotics but when he was arrested those pills were no longer available.
Crowder claims he told jailers of his problem when he was initially taken into custody. He also claims he repeatedly talked to jail staff about his intense pain and his need to see a doctor.
Jail staff dispute Crowder's claims but staff and Crowder both agree he was first seen by a doctor June 6. The doctor prescribed more antibiotics but the lapse in medication may have aggravated the infection. Crowder's remaining testicle was removed a week later.
"He has literally to live without the core of his manhood," Crowder's lawyer stated in legal papers accompanying a lawsuit filed last year. The lawyer also claimed Crowder would need to be treated with hormones for the rest of his life and would never be able to father children.
Crowder, claiming medical malpractice and negligent supervision of jail health care, had originally asked for $500,000 for the lost testicle.

Easy but good Salsa

I have yet to find a store bought salsa that I like. I have quite a few different recipes that I make, but this is the one I make at least once a week. There is not much food that I eat without some (a lot) of salsa. This recipe uses mostly canned ingredients. That's what makes it easy. I share another recipe at a latter time that uses fresh ingredients.

10 Embasa or Ortega whole green chilies (1/2 of a 26oz. can)
1- 28oz can Hunt's petite diced tomatoes
2- 4oz cans Ortega diced jalapenos (1 can for a milder salsa)
2 cloves garlic
6 to 8 green onions
salt and pepper to taste
celantro (optional)

Use a large bowl.
Dice the whole green chilies and add them and 1/2 of the juice from the can into the bowl.
Add the diced tomatoes and diced jalapenos and their juice
Mince garlic
Finely chop green onions, both green and white parts
Salt and pepper

Combine all of these ingredients. Be sure to taste to see if you have added enough salt and pepper. It's ready to eat now, but will be even better if it sits for an hour. Put some in a smaller serving bowl and top with some chopped celantro. Mixture will keep better if stored in the refrigerator without the celantro mixed in, so add it as you use it.

Brands that I use:
The Ortega diced jalapenos are quick and easy. I mostly use the Embasa whole jalapenos in the 26oz can and dice them. The extra I put in a plastic bags in the freezer and use for next time.
The Hunt's petite diced tomatoes are good. I don't have the brand handy for the ones I use, but it comes in a restaurant size can and the tomatoes are diced and roasted. I really like these. The can is too large for most people, but I use the extra in other recipes during the week.
You can get diced green chilies from Ortega, but I find them to be to mushy. Buy the whole ones from any brand and dice them.

Summer TV

This summer for TV has to be the worst in memory. Last night being a prime example. Martin and Lewis has to be one of the worst made for TV movies ever. I had seen the advertisements on CBS during the past week and knew it was going to be a horrible movie. The only reason that I wanted to watch was because of Sean Hayes. I do like his work on Will and Grace, even though that show is very tired now and thank god their filming it's last season.
Sean's performance was actually pretty good. He not only looks like Jerry Lewis but acts like him too. Jeremy Northam was just ok as Dean Martin. The biggest problem with the movie was the writing. We'll just put this movie in the boring department.
The conclusion to Into The West was last Friday. At least this mini series was interesting. No great acting, no cute guys, but watchable. It did drag out an awful lot, and the commercials did not help.
The conclusion to Empire is tomorrow night. I'll get my last glimpse of Santiago Cabrera . At least this mini series has a cute guy to look at.
The only tolerable thing on TV tonight is The Closer.
Well it looks like a night for reading.

Weight Loss??

Sent for a subscription to Men's Health magazine a few weeks ago. Today I got both the June and July/August issues. I've browsed through this magazine many times before over the past few years at friend's houses and have always found something interesting. I'm definitely not a body builder, but I know that I need to exercise more than I do now. Simple exercises that I can do at home are the best for me. Going to a gym and lifting weights is not something that I ever envision myself doing. I've got just a little bit of a gut that needs to be gotten rid of.

Now comes the question of just how much should I weigh? Well at Get Odd they say 167lbs., at Herbalife they say 184lbs. and at Healthy Glow they say 160-170lbs. Using those figures my guess is around 172lbs. I'm under that, so I just need to work on the exercises some more.

Empire

Don't miss Empire tomorrow night on ABC. Not that it's a great mini series, but I like watching Santiago Cabrera. If it were not for him Empire would not be worth watching. I was however a little disappointed last week when they showed him without a shirt and it wasn't that greatest.
It is the story of what happens after Julius Ceasar is assinated by the senate and as he is dying names is nephew Octavius (Santiago) as his successor. Don't be looking to get a history lesson here because it's simple entertainment. Tomorrow night is the fifth episode of the series.
The conclusion will be Tuesday July 26.

Book: By The Light Of The Moon

Never having read any of Dean Koontz's number one best selling books I figured it was time. One that had been given to me was By The Light Of The Moon. For me this turned out to be one of the worst books that I have read. I read mostly suspense thrillers. This book adds science fiction on top of that, and that I don't like. I did finish the whole book just to be sure I wouldn't like it.

Dylan is a 29 year old artist traveling to art shows in the Southwest with his 20 year old autistic brother Shepherd. A crazed doctor attacks Dylan and injects him and his brother with stuff. The stuff, as the doctor describes to Dylan has a different effect on everyone. He tells him that he must leave because people are looking for him and will kill him. They will also kill anyone who has been injected by the doctor. Upon leaving he runs into Jillian, who is traveling doing stand up comedy clubs, and injects her too.
Dylan and Shep meetup with Jullian and the three of them take off running from the killers. They then start showing different effects to the drug and proceed to get in and out of bad situations.
The ending was horrible. It did explain all the loose ends, but it was just too sweet of an ending for me.

Perhaps later I will try another of Dean Koontz's books, but I will read the inside jacket first.

Reality TV

I swore that I would not watch another reality TV show, but I did watch The Next Food Network Star. There were only four episodes. It wasn't the greatest TV, but I didn't fall asleep either. The winner would end up with their own show. Right now my favorite shows on this network are with Rachel Ray & Paula Deen.

There were some good people trying out and it was humorous to see some of them perform under pressure of camera, teleprompter, director, ect. There is a lot of worked crammed into a short amount of time.

Dan & Steve, the gay couple won. They seem to work well together, so they have the makings if a good show. I plan to trying some of their recipes like Crispy Whole Striped Bass with Red Tomatillo Sauce and Middle Eastern Beef Kabobs.

Their new show is expected to start airing Sunday September 18.

July 4th

Spent most of the day working with the HTML lessons. The other day I had whipped through about four lessons and now it has taken me two days just to get through two of them. It's not that it's getting harder, but if you mistype or forget to type just one character it messes up everything. I had used FrontPage for years, but decided that since I have the time I may as well try to learn something new.

My ex told me last night that he is going to buy some sort of retail business somewhere around LA and wants me to run it for him. Although he is very vague about everything (which is normal for him) I told him "Sure, let's look into it." There is nothing holding me where I am now, job wise or relationship wise. Maybe a move will do me some good. I'm going in two weeks to meet the agent and look at a few places because my ex can't go.

Oh well... Nothing to loose.

Forgot about the fireworks last night until I heard them going off. Went outside for a few minutes to see, but didn't want to walk in town. I'm embarrassed being in crowds when I'm by myself.

Holiday Weekend

I should be out in town checking things out since it's a Holiday Weekend and the town is packed with tourists. But instead I will just stay inside and work on the computer today. My current project is trying to learn HTML.
My roommate hogs the TV on Sunday nights, so I guess I'll read tonight. I'm reading Dean Koontz's "By The Light Of The Moon." I hate it. It's not my type of book, but once I start a book I have to finish it.
It's 10:30 am and the sun still has not come out. When it comes out I will probably walk to the Post Office and check my mail. If its warm the guys will be walking around with their shirts off. At least there will be something to look at!!
