Gay Priest Gave Dog Communion

In what seems to be one of the worst – if not the worst – archdiocese in terms of the presence of non-celibate homosexual clergy, the saga of Miami whistle-blowing priest Andrew Dowgiert continues.
The following is the most recent (edited) update from Father Dowgiert’s attorney, Sharon Bourassa:
“We met with the canon lawyer on September 30 for four hours. He came in from Rome and is considered to be one of the best. We gave him all we have and he was shocked by the bigger picture of what is going on in our archdiocese.
“He has asked that we present him with a report of everything [Bourassa’s private investigator] has uncovered on the sexual and financial improprieties of the local clergy: homosexual activity, stealing, drugs, parties, and an incident in which the Sacred Host was given to a homosexual priest's dog at a Mass with other homosexual priests. [Bourassa was informed of that particular incident by an archdiocesan official.]
“We have the Pink Mafia under our noses in this entire archdiocese. We need to stop being blind. Good priests are leaving or are so oppressed that they can't stand it anymore. Their names and what they know will be provided to the Vatican.”

Knoxville Mayor Declines Proclamation For Gay Rally

Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam won't be speaking at a gay rally and festival this month and declined to issue a city proclamation recognizing the event.
But he will send a representative to the event and organizers say that's OK.Haslam was invited by the Rainbow Community Awareness Project to speak at the October 15th event being held in downtown Knoxville.Organizers say they were disappointed with the mayor's decision not to speak and officially support the event, but called the fact he was sending aide Bill Lyons "progress."Lyons told The Knoxville News Sentinel the city had received some negative comments about the festival, but had also received comments in support of it.

Lindsay Lohan To Go Nude

Lindsay Lohan has revealed that she will appear nude on the cover of a forthcoming issue of Vanity Fair. Lindsay Lohan is reportedly keen to set the record straight about her weight loss and show the world her new, healthier body.
According to America's In Touch Magazine, Lohan shot the top secret cover photo on a beach in Malibu, California last week and it was actually her idea to pose naked.
In Touch magazine also reports that, Lohan got the idea for the revealing shoot after she saw her friend Paris Hilton's slutty topless cover on Vanity Fair.
A source said: "It was Paris Hilton's recent Vanity Fair cover, where she's topless and covering her breasts with her arms, that inspired Lindsay to push the envelope even further."
For some of the pictorials in the magazine, Lohan can apparently be seen mimicking her screen idol, Marilyn Monroe.

Taiwan Gay Activists March For Equal Rights

Thousands of gay activists, many in flamboyant costumes, took to the streets of Taiwan's capital on Saturday to demand equal rights in a society that still frowns upon homosexuality.
Activists, some dressed as Roman warriors, Chinese court officials and winged angels, began their march in downtown Taipei in a carnival-like mood, waving flags and chanting slogans.
"We want society to treat us like normal human beings, and not see us like aliens or sick people," said 23-year-old Vodka Wang, wearing flowing white robes and a golden mask.
Organizers said gay parades in Asia were not as common as in Europe or the United States and were aimed at raising civil awareness and protest against discrimination.
Apart from Taiwan, so far only Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong and the Philippines have organized gay marches, organizers said.
"Although Taiwan's society has become more liberal in recent years, there are still some politicians that make comments discriminating against homosexuals," said Ashley Wu, spokesman for Taiwan Pride 2005, which has organized the parade annually since 2003.
"Gays are also discriminated in the legal system. For instance, homosexuals are not allowed to donate blood," Wu said.
In 2003, Taiwan's cabinet drafted a controversial bill to legalize same-sex marriage and recognize the right of homosexual couples to adopt children, but the bill is still pending parliament approval.
"Fairytales usually end with a prince and a princess living happily ever after," said Orlando Huang, a 24-year-old student in Snow White attire.
"I don't see why they can't end with two princesses coming together like us," she said, putting her arms around her partner.

Russian Soldiers To Receive Condoms Before Leave

Soldiers from the Russian Army will now receive condoms together with their leave-passes.
Head of the Defense Ministry’s medical directorate, Lieutenant General Igor Bykov, was quoted by the Rossiiskaya Gazeta newspaper as saying the Russian Army would use the preventive measures against AIDS “taken all over the world.”
He said that over 2,000 HIV-infected people had been detected in the Russian Armed Forces since 1989. This number equals 0.7 percent of all cases in Russia, he said.
Bykov added that although the system of anti-AIDS measures in the Russian Army was not fully formed, “it worked rather effectively.”
Most of the HIV-infected personnel in the Russian Army are conscripts who are withdrawn from the armed forces as soon as the infection is discovered, he said. “However, according to the law, we have no right to test all conscripts, only those on contract undergo an obligatory AIDS test.”

Porn Store Employees Need License In Florida

Manatee County- Everyone expects a cab driver, a doctor and even a barber to be required to have a license.
But the clerk behind the counter of the local porn shop?
It's true in Bradenton, where employees at adult bookstores and sex boutiques must now carry county-issued licenses while on the job.
County officials say the move gives them more control over the businesses, ensuring employees haven't been recently convicted of prostitution or drug offenses.
But critics say the licensing requirement relies on unfair stereotypes about sexually oriented businesses, intrudes on employees' privacy and could hinder the recruitment of employees.
"It's invasive and unfair because it puts the individuals under a greater burden than anyone else," said Luke Lirot, a Tampa attorney who represents several of the local businesses.
The licensing rules are part of a new adult entertainment ordinance that took effect in May. Enforcement began this month for sexually oriented businesses except for three strip clubs that are suing over the ordinance. The county has agreed to suspend enforcement until the lawsuit is settled.
Requiring licenses for businesses is nothing new in Manatee County, but the new ordinance compels individuals to get them, too.
The licenses, which include a photo, address, date of birth and expiration date, require a background check for prostitution, drug or lewd and lascivious offenses within the past five years and an initial fee of $50 per person.
They're good for one year and can be renewed for $25. Businesses are also required to obtain licenses, which cost $100 a year and require proof that the businesses meet ordinance requirements regulating lighting, floor layout and hours of operation.
The licenses include a large rendition of the Manatee County logo of a ship and setting sun, and a notice that the card "must be in the employee's possession while on duty."
So far, about a dozen temporary licenses have been issued to employees at X.T.C. Adult Supercenter on Cortez Road and Adult Fun Shop on 14th Street West.
The county's Community Services department, which is issuing the licenses, has sent letters to a handful of other businesses in an effort to determine which fall under the new code, said department Director Fred Loveland.
Figuring out ambiguities in the rules and how to enforce the rules could take awhile, he said.
Loveland estimates there are about 100 employees of sexually oriented businesses in the county.
The county began working on the new rules shortly after a federal appeals court found problems with an earlier ruling in favor of the county's old adult entertainment code.
The court said the county defined nudity too broadly and didn't supply evidence that adult businesses lead to an increase in crime, which the county used to justify minimum clothing requirements and searches of the clubs without warrants.
"The county felt a need to govern these places," Loveland said.
Angelina Spencer, executive director of the Association of Club Executives, said the licensing puts the names of employees into the public record, infringing on their privacy.
But she says the requirement could also "legitimize the industry" and reverse the nuisance reputation the county has tried to attach to the businesses.
