Vagina Painting Sells For $400,411

Described as a "One of a kind item!" one of the faux paintings of Charlotte's (Kristen Davis) vagina of HBO's Sex and the City was sold on E-Bay. Most people who are not familiar with the show think it is a painting of a flower.

Several paintings done by Elizabeth Linn were used on the show . She ended up giving one to a guy that was the construction coordinator for the show. He later gave the 8 foot x 4 1/2 foot painting to his twenty year old daughter.

Over $400,000 is not bad for a days work. Unfortunately nothing in my attic will sell for that much...

Beware of camera phones

A girl was flashed by a guy on the subway in Manhattan. She was mad but went back to get his picture for the police.
This is from her blog.

I got flashed by an old school trench coat flasher

This guy gets on the train last night in a fur lined trench coat and no shirt. He stands for a while and I'm thinking "isn't it 100 degrees out there, what is this guy doin in a fur lined trench coo.... oh. No way. Thats too cliche. What the hell is this? Mad magazine circa 1988?"

Then he sits directly across from me and I look up. I don't know why.
I see his zipper is open but no show.
Then I look again. Oh sweet jesus What am I, asking for it? and there it is. penis. joy.
I have nothing against peni, but only when there is a mutual agreement. This was an eyeful of penis that I did not ask for nor care to see. I knee-jerk reacted by getting up and muttering something about "if your gunna flash you shouldn't have an ugly little cock" or something as I walked away.

And then I thought about permissions and public space and ...

I went back

and took his picture.

say cheese.

Protesting the Da Vince Code movie

You had to wonder how many more stories like this one are going to appear in the news over the filming of The Da Vinci Code. A nun held a 12 hour prayer vigil at Lincoln Cathedral to protest the church accepting a reported $180,000 to allow filming there.
This is the story from the BBC.

Head-to-head: Da Vinci Code filming

A nun is protesting outside Lincoln Cathedral over the filming of the movie of controversial bestselling book the Da Vinci Code.
The Dean of Lincoln, the Very Reverend Alec Knight, allowed the filmmakers into Lincoln Cathedral.
Sister Mary Michael, who is protesting, believes the Dean was wrong.

Here we present their opposing views.

THE DEAN OF LINCOLN

It's fiction. It's been attacked as blasphemous because it argues the notion that Jesus' humanity included an element of sexuality.
My view is that the book isn't blasphemous, it doesn't denigrate God in any way, but it is speculative, far fetched and heretical.
It has clearly touched the public imagination, and the Church needs to open up a debate about it rather than throw one's hands up and walk away from it.
It does need to be taken seriously - what is it that has attracted so much attention?
I think the Church ought to grasp the opportunity that such an event gives it to come out and tell the truth.
We should say, `let's have a look at the facts, let's examine the evidence'.
The evidence is not conclusive either way, but much more in favour of Jesus being a celibate.
I think God speaks to human beings in all sorts of ways. He speaks through material things as well as through directly spiritual things.

SISTER MARY MICHAEL

Jesus spoke the truth, especially at the Last Supper when he said: 'This is my body, this is my blood'.
I think that the Bishop and Dean and the Church should stand up for the truth.
They have a muddled view which they are implying is acceptable because they are allowing it (the filming) in the cathedral.
I think that he is quibbling with words and any rationalist can do it.
I can understand why people are reading it, I know it is a fiction and probably a brilliant book, but this is not about love, this is a mystery.
It is not the truth and the truth would be far more beneficial.
The Church should not be accepting money for something that is not a true story. They should be praying more, and then the money would come in.
To a believer, any believer, what is happening is blasphemous
.

Opportunities Gone Bad?

I have been working on a business project with my ex for the past few months. It has been slow going and he seems to have lost interest. I'm going to keep pushing because it would be a good opportunity for me also.
This morning I got a call from Maria, an old friend who I haven't talked to in about a year. We used to be roommates about five years ago. Actually at that time I was living in San Diego and changing jobs. My ex ( well ex #4, we had been split up for about 3 years) told to to come visit for a week. Well I stayed for about a year and a half. So me, my ex, Maria and later her new born daughter were all living together.
Any way she now lives in Santa Rosa. She and her girlfriend have been thinking of opening a store there. If all goes well I will move up there and help them run the store.
