Penis Questions Of The Day

Uncut
Dear Dr. Shieh,
My question is about the male penis. It's a little embarrassing, but my boyfriend is not circumcised and I don't know whether I should tell him that he should get circumcised or not. It doesn't really bother me, but my girlfriends were telling me that uncircumcised penises looked weird and I can catch more diseases, and if I have sex with him, he'll have a hard time because he is not circumcised. Is this true? -- Wondering
Dear Wondering:
Don't be embarrassed. There are many men that are not circumcised and the reality is that there really is no medical indication for routine circumcision. Some insurance companies do not cover this procedure, citing that it is more of a cosmetic reason.
At birth, the foreskin is fused and will separate with time. Circumcision is a surgical procedure that removes the top or front part of the skin of the penis, better know as "foreskin."
Now, if you think about the natural development of the penis, the foreskin may serve as protection over the gland of the penis and some sex counselors theorize that the foreskin is there for sexual pleasure. In fact, the inner part of the foreskin is usually much thinner and contains more nerve endings than the skin of the shaft of the penis and is similar to the mucosa of the inner aspect of the mouth. During erection, the foreskin usually will pull back without any problems during intercourse.
For your boyfriend, if he does not already know this, he needs to make sure that he provides good hygiene for himself. Make sure that he pulls back the foreskin to properly clean his penis. Men who do not use good hygiene will experience an increased incidence of urinary tract infections.
Lastly, sexually transmitted diseases such as Chlamydia, Herpes, Syphilis, HIV, HPV, Hepatitis, Gonorrhea and others do not discriminate. These STDs can be transmitted whether a person is circumcised or uncircumcised.
To decrease the risk of STDs, use a latex condom and choose carefully who you have sex with.

Q I am only 12 but I can't stop masturbating. I can do it up to three times a day.
Even though it sometimes hurts I can't stop doing it. I worry I have damaged my penis but I don't want to go to the doctor because it would be embarrassing.
I would also have to tell my dad. So I need to stop. I have tried methods on websites but nothing works for me.
A Let me repeat yet again that masturbation will not harm your penis. Nor is it abnormal, particularly at your age, to occasionally overdo it.
If you really want to cut down, you have to do something that will distract you.
A group activity such as football or even hanging out with your mates should work.
It will also keep you fitter than reaching for a snack.

8th Graders Learn How To Masturbate In School

Cum
CHICAGO - The board of Thornton Elementary School District 154 decided Tuesday night that a teacher accused of handing out sexually explicit material to 8th graders in a health class would go on paid administrative leave immediately and his contract would not be renewed for the next school year.
"It's been a very difficult process, a difficult decision for the school board," said the board's attorney, John Izzo, in announcing the decision at a meeting attended by about 125 parents and friends of the teacher, Scott Groff.
Izzo said the board believed Groff was a good teacher and a good person who is "entitled to a second chance to serve another community." But Izzo added that Groff had lost his credibility with pupils.
The decision came after the board had largely met in closed session for about three hours while listening privately to comments from parents and Groff supporters at Wolcott School in Thornton. Groff, who had been teaching for two years, did not attend Tuesday's meeting.
Some said Groff should be fired or suspended, while others believe the teacher simply made a mistake.
Lynette Gricus-Swets said, "I was shocked at first when I read the package, but people should just let it go. He's 27 years old. This mistake should not end his career."
But David Pinedo, whose son was in the class and had to read aloud a passage about masturbation, said what Groff did was out of line.
"I think he should be suspended without pay and go before a review board. He knew what he was passing on," Pinedo said.
Board members went into executive session to discuss Groff 10 minutes after the 7 p.m. meeting started in Wolcott School in Thornton. The crowd of about 125 spilled out of the room and into the hallway as they awaited the board's decision. Parents with children in his class were invited to speak privately with the board.
Groff distributed a sexually explicit handout to about 40 pupils last week. It explained in detail how to perform oral sex and how to masturbate and included dimensions for average penis size. It also contained colloquial expressions for various sexual positions.
According to parents, children were required to read aloud various questions ranging from "How do you French kiss?" to "Do you need to use a condom during anal sex?"
Groff told Principal Stephen Harman that he had not read the document closely before distributing it to pupils, school officials said. He has since apologized to the class and sent a letter of apology to parents, though some have called it half-hearted.
The school district announced Monday the suspension of the sex education program until all materials can be reviewed. And it has asked pupils to return the handout to the school; about half complied immediately.
Katie Kollath, 14, was in the class and believes Groff is being treated unfairly.
"He's a good teacher and easy to relate to," she said, adding that she didn't find his handout that unusual. "I thought it was a normal sex lesson. I didn't feel uncomfortable at all."
Steve Miller, Groff's pastor at Village Evangelical Free Church in South Holland, said the teacher feels bad about his mistake.
"Scott has the potential to be a great teacher. I would hate to see a good teacher destroyed," Miller said.

Mario Vasquez Sued For Trying To Masturbate

Mario Vasquez
Former "American Idol" finalist Mario Vasquez is facing accusations that he tried to masturbate in front of a male employee in a bathroom on the set of the hit show in February 2005.
Shortly thereafter, Vasquez mysteriously dropped out of "Idol," citing personal reasons.
According to the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court and obtained by TMZ, Vazquez allegedly "sexually harassed" Magdaleno Olmos, assistant accountant for Fremantle Media, the company that produces American Idol.
In the lawsuit, Olmos claims "Vazquez stared lasciviously, smiled lasciviously ... and on one occasion followed him into a bathroom ... knocked on the door of the plaintiff's stall and made eye contact through the space in the stall door."
The lawsuit alleges that Vazquez "started to rub his genitals over his pants. Attempting to leave the bathroom, Olmos opened the door of the stall and saw Vazquez standing in front of him with his pants down masturbating."
According to the documents, Vazquez pushed Olmos "further into the stall and continued masturbating with one hand and trying to pull down Olmos' pants with another hand."
Olmos claims that he tried to "cover his body with his hands" but Vazquez touched his "chest and stomach underneath his shirt, and Olmos' "genitals" as Vazquez "attempted to unzip" Olmos' pants.
Vazquez then allegedly asked Olmos "if he wanted oral sex."
In the lawsuit, Olmos claims that as he "managed to get out of the stall, and attempted to leave the bathroom," Vazquez, grabbed his arm "in an effort to stop him." Vazquez continued to call Olmos to come back as Vazquez "stood in the bathroom with his pants still down."
In the suit, Olmos claims that he tried to report the incident to a superior named Eric LaPointe, who allegedly responded by telling Olmos that "he was crazy" and "repeatedly threatening to fire" him. A few months after the incident, Olmos claims he was "terminated."
In addition to suing Vazquez, Olmos has named FOX Entertainment and Fremantle Media as defendants in his lawsuit for wrongful termination.
Reps from FOX tell TMZ, "We haven't been served, but we wouldn't comment on pending litigation."
Calls to Vazquez's attorney, and reps from "American Idol" on behalf of the defendants, have not yet been returned.
