SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO - Residents and guests at the new retirement community for gays on Santa Fe's far south side will be able to buy booze in the dining room.
The City Council has approved the transfer of a liquor license from El Monte Resort in Taos to RainbowVision Santa Fe, 500 Rodeo Road.
Councilor Karen Heldmeyer said she did not want to see RainbowVision's dining room become a full-service restaurant with liquor sales to the general public. City Attorney Bruce Thompson said only the state Alcohol and Gaming Commission could attach such a condition to the license.
The council unanimously approved the transfer after Joyce Bogosian, a managing member of the 146-unit retirement home, agreed to voluntarily restrict alcohol service to residents and guests.
