Judge OKs Conjugal Visits For Gay Prisoners

Randy BlueBUENOS AIRES ARGENTINA – A judge in the central Argentine province of Córdoba has authorized conjugal visits for homosexual prisoners in local jails, just as are allowed for heterosexual inmates.
Judge José María Pérez Villalobos handed down his unexpected ruling after learning of the punishment imposed by prison authorities on an inmate for having sexual relations with his visiting partner in his cell, reported the Córdoba daily La Voz del Interior on Tuesday.
The prisoner was punished on two occasions with solitary confinement after guards surprised him while he was having sex with his boyfriend.
After reviewing the case, prosecutor Miguel Rizzotti asked the judge to authorize conjugal visits for homosexual prisoners because the law obliges authorities to “guarantee (the availability of) intimate relations for prisoners with their spouses or, alternatively, with their (partners).”
The ruling will allow gay prisoners to be able to have sexual relations not only with other inmates, but also with visitors from outside the jails.
