Two Deny Gay Sex Act

Gay SexTwo males who were arrested at the Suva foreshore for allegedly having sex have denied relevant charges in the Suva Magistrates Court.
Raj Kapoor, 38, and a 17-year-old appeared before Magistrate Aminiasi Katonivualiku yesterday charged with committing an indecent act.
The pair was caught behind the Suva Civic Centre on Sunday evening in an area commonly known as lovers’ lane.
Divisional Police Prosecutor Southern Inspector Bhawani Prasad said the men were caught in the act and arrested on the scene by police officers.
"They were on top of each other in one of the ‘bure’ (hut) there," he said.
The two were released on bail until their next appearance in a fortnight.
Fiji laws prohibit homosexual acts.
Gay rights activists have been lobbying for a lenient law that will at least allow gay sex acts in private.
