Gay Man Beaten To Death In Attack

Three CrossesLONDON - A murder hunt is underway after the body of 24-year-old man was found on Clapham Common in an apparent homophobic attack.
Barman Jody Dobrowski, 24, from south east London, died from severe head, neck and facial injuries in the attack on London's Clapham Common early on Saturday, a post mortem examination showed.
His injuries were believed to have been caused by a severe physical beating, but no weapon is thought to have been used.
Police today said that shouts heard by witnesses at between 11pm and 1am led them to believe it was a homophobic assault.
Police are looking for two suspects seen leaving the area in the early hours.
Both are described as young, white men in their 20s, one about six foot tall with short cropped hair and the other slightly shorter and more stocky.
"The incident is being treated as homophobic," said a spokesman for Scotland Yard.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Scola, who is leading the murder investigation, said: "This attack was abhorrent and the victim was assaulted violently.
"I would urge anyone who was in the area of Clapham Common late on Friday evening or early Saturday morning to contact police."
Police urged witnesses to come forward with any information on two young white male suspects they are hunting.
With its reputation as a late night meeting place for homosexual men, police are urging anyone who may have been there to come forward and have promised the utmost discretion in dealing with any witnesses.
They also asked anyone who had experienced attacks in the past in the area to come forward.
Police highlighted the fact that gay police officers are on hand if anyone calling wished to speak to one.
Mr Scola said: "Did you hear or see any disturbance in that area? We need you to come forward and tell us of anything you thought was suspicious and help us catch the people who carried out this crime."
Bob Hodgson, from the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, and Transgender advisory group, warned others could be at risk if the attackers are not found.
"The main focus at this time is to catch the people that murdered this young man. This is a time for people from the community to come forward if they know anything at all.
"If you don't come forward with what you know, you could potentially be putting other people at risk in the future. We need to work with police to solve this crime," he said.
Police were called to Clapham Common just after midnight on Saturday after reports that a man had been assaulted on The Avenue side, near the artificial football pitches.
Officers found the victim unconscious. He was taken to hospital but died. A post mortem examination will be carried out later today.
Wandsworth police borough commander Joe Royle appealed to the public for help in catching the attackers.
He said: "I know the concerns and worry this attack will have. We need you to help us. You may also have vital information that can assist us capture the people that committed this murder.
"Have you seen anything recently that has made you suspicious? If you have been the victim of an attack in the area, then we need you to tell us or call Crimestoppers in confidence - they don't ask who you are, just what you know."
